Back To School Fundraiser a Success

September 6, 2012 by admin

Ope, working hard on the barbecue for guests at the fundraiser

The Bukola Braiding First Annual Back To School Fundraiser for Alexandra House has turned out successfully. As at today, a total of  $1489 was raised. Amount raised include supplies, gift cards, food, cash, charcoal, lighter, fluid and coupon. And, even though, the event occurred two weeks ago, donors are still knocking at the doors of Bukola Braiding to give their support.

Anoka County residents were at the forefront with their generous support. Many showed up at the event site at the Coon Rapids Dam Park in Coon rapids City with school supplies, food and cash donations, others called and brought supplies to Bukola braiding shop in Spring Lake Park while many are still calling and coming in with gifts.

It was such a blessing. Friends of Bukola were also helpful working in the background from the making of fliers to running errands during the event. Bukola braiding is grateful and will like to say a big than k you all everyone who made is a success. Alexandra House staff were present during the event and they could not be more grateful for the turn out. A video coverage of the event will be in the Episode 9 of Imprisoned Show, a show produced by Bukola to educate the public about human trafficking and dealing with domestic abuse issues. August 14, 2012 by admin

Playground beside pavilion #2

Bukola Braiding & Beauty Supply, a local hair braiding and beauty supply store in Spring Lake Park is gearing up to host  its Annual Back To School Fundraiser for Alexandra House.

The event will hold on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at the Coon Rapids Dam Park – pavilion #2 located at 9750 Egret Boulevard, Coon Rapids, MN 55433. The pavilion is located beside the  playground to enable kids enjoy themselves while at the event.

Bukola Oriola, Owner, Bukola Braiding & beauty Supply said that the company is organizing this event to help the school age children staying at Alexandra house as a result of domestic violence have adequate supplies for school as schools re-open this Fall.

She said: “At Bukola Braiding, we understand that the kids at the shelter do not have safe homes to live in but we do not want them to be denied of  access to education or the supplies needed to work effectively in class.”

Oriola, who believes that  education is the backbone for the future of the kids is of the opinion that joining hands together to help those kids in need at the battered women shelter will play a key role in achieving their educational dreams and better the community at large.

“So we enjoin the public to join us to give these important tools they need for their academics, ” she added.

How to Keep Your Braids Clean

August 10, 2012 by admin

by Bukola Oriola

Keeping your braids clean when you have them for up to six weeks or more is not as challenging as you might think. There are ways to keep up clean and healthy braids. If you want to prevent your braids from smelling, itching, dandruff or dryness, the few steps below will help you.

1. Wash your braids at least four weeks after having them braided. Mix shampoo, preferably anti dandruff shampoo in warm water and gently use your fingers to work your way around the hair.

2. Rinse and dry with a towel or blow dryer. You could also allow it to air dry.

3. Apply leave-in conditioner and hair cream of your choice. If you have dandruff, chose anti dandruff hair cream.

These steps would not only help you to keep a clean hair, you would also enjoy healthy hair and scalp.

Experts have shown that the human body is made up of 60 percent of water. This literally means that more than half of the body is water. Therefore, the body’s life wire is maintained by water. Therefore water plays a great role in maintaining a healthy hair.

The number of glasses of daily water intake depends on your daily activity and diet. Some experts recommend eight glasses of water while others believe that your body gets water, not only from the drinking water, but other sources such as fruits. Also, someone who engages in daily exercise or other active duties may need more water intake than a person who does not.

However, water is not only needed to hydrate your body, it provides protein to help your hair grow healthy.

Advantages of water for your hair

1. Provides energy to the cells that promotes hair growth

2. Activates the nerve endings and sensors in the scalp and skin

3. Enhances the natural vitality of the skin and hair roots

4. Acts as antioxidant thereby helping the brain cells to get rid of excess hydrogen ions produced by hydrolysis and maintain an alkaline environment

5. Eliminates hair problems such as dandruff and hair loss
